Societies & Communities
As the world's largest technical association, IEEE is comprised of a variety of groups, active in publications, conferences, and building technical communities. These units involve member outreach at both the local and global level.
There are two ways to get involved with IEEE: by area of interest (knowledge groups) or by geographic location (in your area).
IEEE Potentials Magazine
IEEE Potentials Magazine is the publication dedicated to undergraduate and graduate students and young professionals. IEEE Potentials explores career strategies, the latest in research, and important technical developments. Through its articles, it also relates theories to practical applications, highlights technology's global impact, and generates international forums that foster the sharing of diverse ideas about the profession.
IEEE Spectrum is the flagship magazine and website of the IEEE, the world’s largest professional organization devoted to engineering and the applied sciences. Our charter is to keep over 400,000 members informed about major trends and developments in technology, engineering, and science. Our blogs, podcasts, news and features stories, videos and interactive infographics engage our visitors with clear explanations about emerging concepts and developments with details they can’t get elsewhere.
IEEE Xplore® Digital Library
The IEEE Xplore digital library is a powerful resource for discovery and access to scientific and technical content published by the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and its publishing partners.
IEEE Xplore provides Web access to more than 3-million full-text documents from some of the world's most highly cited publications in electrical engineering, computer science and electronics.
The content in IEEE Xplore comprises over 160 journals, over 1,200 conference proceedings, more than 3,800 technical standards, over 1,000 eBooks and over 300 educational courses. Approximately 25,000 new documents are added to IEEE Xplore each month.
Access to full-text documents in IEEE Xplore can be obtained from:
- A broad range of institutional subscription options
- Exclusive subscriptions available to IEEE members and IEEE society members
- Online purchase of individual documents (at discounted prices for IEEE members)
IEEE Student Travel Grants
IEEE is pleased to offer a number of Student Travel Grants to assist Student Members in attending conferences and presenting papers. Additional student grant opportunities may be found by visiting an IEEE Conference Web site(s) matching your technical interest.
IEEE.tv is an award winning, internet based television network, made possible by the members of IEEE. IEEE.tv produces and delivers special-interest programming about technology and engineering for the benefit of IEEE's members and the general public. It can be launched from this page, and is also accessible for members via myIEEE, the members-only portal. The IEEE.tv Web site provides many features free of charge to the general public. Select features, as labeled below, are provided as a benefit of IEEE membership.
IEEE offers a variety of competitions, locally, regionally, and globally, to IEEE Student members and Graduate Student members. Competitions offer students the opportunity to develop professionally and technically. Many IEEE competitions provide a way for Student members to connect to the global IEEE community and impact humanity through the creative application of technology and engineering. Get involved, have fun, and take the challenge. You might just win some prizes and recognition from your peers around the world.
Scholarships, Grants, and Fellowships
IEEE offers a variety of scholarships, grants, and fellowships for IEEE Student members. Submit a project or paper for consideration and have the opportunity to win and gain peer recognition for your effort. Terms and conditions may apply.
IEEE ResumeLab is an online service that allows IEEE members to develop a resume or curriculum vitae using a wide array of resume templates. Members can also perform mock interviews using over 900 potential interview questions or develop letters, portfolios, and skills assessments to use during the interview process. Best of all, the information developed on IEEE ResumeLab is easily shared with potential employers, mentors, or colleagues via a personalized Web site.
Conferences & Events
IEEE sponsors more than 1,600 annual conferences and meetings worldwide. IEEE is also highly involved in the technical program development of numerous events including trade events, training workshops, job fairs, and other programs.
